Since 2002, HCI has offered family visitation services in safe, supportive environments  private pay clients.

For Private Pay Families: Families that are experiencing separation or divorce sometimes need assistance in helping their family make these transitions. HCI provides individualized family visitation between children and their families at HCI visitation sites in six counties throughout mid-coast and central Maine.

Visitation is provided at visitation sites in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoc, Somerset, Waldo and York Counties.

HCI will not discriminate against any applicant or recipient for service because of race, color, creed, sex, handicap, age, sexual orientation, religion, genetic predisposition, ancestry or national origin.

Specific Services

Insuring child safety and comfort are the highest priority, and only those individuals approved by DHHS or the court are allowed on visitation premises. Visitation services are offered to birth families, extended families, and siblings living in different households.

HCI family visitation sites are child friendly, safe, comfortable, and neutral. An assortment of toys, books, and games for use in family interactions are offered at each location.

Trained HCI staff are committed to:

• • Providing a safe environment for parents to visit with their children
  • Assisting parents in developing new parenting skills & practices
  • Helping parents in planning activities that promote healthy family interactions with their children
  • Enhancing existing parenting skills by providing feedback and encouragement
  • Documenting family interactions according to required protocol
  • Assisting with connections to other services in the community that help parents enhance their relationships with their children.

HCI maintains a variety of brochures, pamphlets, and educational materials at visitation sites that can be readily accessed to help families navigate their transitions.
