Our Programs

Home Based Family Services

Since 1985, Home Based Family Services (HBFS) has offered intensive, short-term counseling designed to help families provide safe home environments for their children and family. Geared toward children with behavioral or emotional difficulties, this program also offers community reintegration services for children being released from residential, correctional, or foster care placement.

Children’s Targeted Case Management

Home Counselors Inc. has been providing case management services to families since 1999 and is now offering individualized Children’s Targeted Case Management to youth ages 0-20.

Case managers provide initial and ongoing assessments, work with children, their families and support systems to facilitate access to appropriate services to meet the child’s mental, physical and behavioral health needs.

Outpatient Services

Outpatient services is for children/youth that show a need for behavioral, developmental, or mental health assessment and treatment. Services take place in an office and may include individual and family counseling to help improve the child’s well-being.

Supervised Family Visitation

Since 2002, HCI has offered family visitation services in safe, supportive environments for Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) sponsored families and for private pay clients.

ParentWorks

Families that are experiencing separation or divorce sometimes need assistance in helping their family make these transitions. HCI provides parent education classes through ParentWorks, a monthly 4-hour skill building workshop designed for families in transition. Because of small class sizes and an interactive format, presenters learn enough about each person’s situation to adjust presentations to individual needs and interests. Presenters draw from their own breath of experience in law, education, and social work to substantiate material in the course manual.
